How to Handle Criticism, Deal with Criticism

By Louis ren at 2009-09-23 00:20:25

That is not to say that people are fundamentally negative. Far from it, most people are kind and respectful however, these gentle souls are not the ones who make the most noise and who’s action stand out at the end of the day. The ones that will stand out when all is said and done will be the negative few. At least, this will be the case for the unprepared or ill equipped mind.

If you’re feeling alone in your home school journey, it’s very important to connect with other home schooling families. You can ask if your local library or church offers programs for home schoolers. Find out if there are any support programs in your area. Home schooling is a wonderful lifestyle, but it can be difficult to go it alone. Make sure you get the support you need.

The ability to handle criticism is a very useful life skill. But before going any further, I believe it’s helpful to distinguish between two types of criticism: constructive (“friendly”) and destructive (“unfriendly”) criticism. The first is meant to be helpful, is normally delivered by someone who cares about you and your feelings, and is usually welcome. The second is hurtful, delivered by someone who doesn’t care, and is never welcome. Constructive criticism can be quite valuable: its purpose is to help you learn a thing or two about yourself, grow as a person, or improve your performance in a certain area.

Like the blogger who flames you for expressing anything but the most conventional opinions on your own blog. Or the prospect who’s asking if your opportunity is a scam. The customer who starts inquiring about a refund policy before they even know what the product is. And the Tweeter who blasts five angry ALL CAPS tweets in a row in response to anyone’s tweets of a spiritual or political nature differing from his own.

They came to another village and heard the villagers say, ” it’s a shame that such a young boy has to walk whilst his grandfather rides.” They reached the market where they sold the farm produce that they had brought and were about to return home. But then the grandfather thought of the criticism, which they had encountered on the way. He decided that this tine they would both ride the donkey.

The first thing you need to do is analyze the feedback you receive. Look at the tone used in the comment. It could be that the commenter was joking or being satirical. You also need to judge whether or not you should respond to it. It could be that they bought a product from you that did not perform as they had expected or customer support did not reply to the client’s queries in a timely manner. Either way, you will need to figure out what to do. Think it through and do not reply hastily.

It is important to remember that we all say and do the things we do with confidence. When another criticizes our actions, we commonly resort to apologies. People in higher power status positions then our own create a sense of dominance over us
