Myths about Diet, Good Diet Plan Myths

Carbohydrates are not the cause of your weight gain, if eaten in the right quantities. Your body need carbs for the function of many vital organs, such as the brain and kidneys. Weight gain is caused by consuming too many calories, regardless of if they come from carbs, protein or fat. Foods like whole grain pasta, brown rice and wholemeal bread are excellent forms of healthy carbohydrates.

If you want to go on diet on certain days of the week while indulging yourself on other days, the two day diet may just work for you. This diet divides the week into “off days” and “on days”. The “off days” consist of Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday where you get to splurge on any food you want and even allow yourself to have some snacks in between meals. On the other hand, the “on days” - Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday - are spent on low carb, high protein meals.

“Diet” products make you thin because they contain less carbohydrates.Of course these products have less calories. That’s what they’re telling you, right? What they’re not telling you is that these foods don’t fill your stomach as well so that you actually have to eat more of them. In addition your body is not good in digesting the synthetic additives in these foods do they get transformed into body fat.

The very common food-specific diet plan, such as the fruit-only diet plan, is actually harmful to your health. By consuming only 1 type of food, our body lacks the nutrients necessary for a healthy body. Due to the lack of nutrient intake, this plan is not sustainable for a long-term weight loss.

There are a lot of articles out there that offer their information on truths, half-truths, or misinformation. It could be the new way to burn a few extra calories or it could be a regimen about weight loss, and you may be inclined to believe them because they have people to back up their claims. Is their information really telling all the truth you need to know? Here is what Muscle & Body magazine have to say.

People grow overweight because they consume too much calories and cholesterol that are not burned up due to inadequate physical activities such as exercise. There are different types of fat and some are essential to the body. In fact, blood cholesterol is essential in the build up of cells and the production of vital hormones. Ideally, a third of the calories must be derived from fat. One must distinguish between the good and the bad cholesterol. Remember, cut down on saturated fats and opt for unsaturated fats such as avocados and olive oil.

It is not true that vegetarians cannot be athletes just because of their healthy meals. Many people think that if you only eat fruits and vegetables, you are weak and incapable. In fact, they are even stronger and faster than those other who eat unhealthy meat.
